The Misconception of Job
Have you ever heard the misconception that satan has to go before God first to ask Him if he can do something horrendous to us, like he did to Job? As if everything that happens in our life is from God? I have heard this belief and it's so far from the truth. Why do I believe that? Because everything that happened in the Old Testament is under the old covenant and we are not under the old covenant any longer! Hallelujah! God is not holding our sins against us any longer, praise God!
Did you know that the word testament means will? That means the Old Testament could also be referred to as the old will or the old covenant. The New Testament is the new will and that is the one we are now under. We are not under the Law of the old will! We are under the grace of the new will!! Praise God!!!
Jesus paid the price for God's anger towards wrath! Job was a righteous man, BUT he had fear. He continued to repeatedly make sacrifices for his children's sins because he FEARED that they would die as a result of their rebellion. Guess what? His fear came upon him!
In Job 3:25 we read, "What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me." (NIV) The King James Version says, "For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me."
Do you see where Job was wrong? He feared. Fear and doubt and worry are sins. He opened the door to the enemy. The Bible tells us to not give any place to the devil. "Leave no [such] room or foothold for the devil [give no opportunity to him]." Ephesians 4:27
Now, praise God, since we are under the grace covenant and free from the law, then we do not have to fear that if we open the door to the devil through sin he'll wreak havoc because God's mercy triumphs over judgment (James 2:3).
However, we still are wise to keep away from sin and to not give the devil a foothold, give him no opportunity, because we can open the door to his evil tactics and that would not be wise!
Praise God today that if you are a believer you are under the new covenant, the new will, not under the old covenant! That we are free from the wrath of God because He is not mad, He is not holding His wrath against us because we are at peace with Him! Hallelujah!!
