God Does Not Contradict
"Does this mean, then, that the laws given to Moses contradict God’s promises? That’s unthinkable!"
Galatians 3:21
Galatians 3:21
We search the Scriptures more. I know years ago when I read certain Scriptures, they did seem to contradict and I didn't understand it. I knew though that I could trust God and that it was me who didn't understand. I have come to understand better that those Scriptures do not contradict in truth and in reality. We just have to look further, dig deeper. Just because they seem to contradict, doesn't mean it is wrong!
For example, in Genesis 6:6 we read, "And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart."
First we know that God doesn't need to repent the way we need to repent. We repent from sin which means to turn around and head in a different direction from where we're going. God doesn't sin and He doesn't lie either. How can we understand this Scripture better?
Let's look at the word repent. In the Hebrew the word is: nacham and means to: sigh, breathe strongly; to be sorry. So it is clear that God wasn't repenting of sin, of course, but that He was sorry that He had made man.
Some translations say He regretted making man. So it is clear to us that there is not a contradiction here. Nor is there anywhere else in the Word. If you think there is a contradiction and you therefore choose that the Bible can't be correct, you need to think again. You need to ask God for revelation. Dig deeper and be patient.
I have even heard someone say, "Well, if that word repent didn't mean repent the way we know it, why doesn't it just say what it means? Why doesn't the Bible just speak it plainly and say exactly what it means?"
Well, first of all, I do believe the Bible is plain and simple. However, if you are someone who is not in the Word regularly don't expect to understand it when you pick it up and read it for a change. You are not going to understand God's words and His ways like someone else could who is reading the Word regularly because your mind is worldly. Your mind is fleshly and God is Spirit. Understanding God and His Word with your simple mind will not work. You have to understand the Word with your heart, your spirit man on the inside of you!
So ask God for revelation and understanding and He will give it to you! Be patient with yourself and let God give you revelation as you grow. He is good and loving and He is your Father. He will enlighten you as you seek Him and don't give up!
